Victoria Road Rapid Bus Route Study
Victoria Road is a challenging urban environment, traversing and serving multiple strategic and local centres along the corridor. Currently, residents and businesses are heavily car-dependent, with local and suburban bus routes failing to deliver sufficient capacity and reliability to draw more customers onto sustainable modes of transport. The corridor is also built out, with few opportunities to widen the road corridor and provide value for money. Future opportunities of rapid transit options such as bus and light rail to service the urban corridor.
SCT Consulting has worked on major motorway and road corridor projects, providing transport designs and advice that both improves customer experience and is grounded in what is achievable on-site. We worked with Roads and Maritime Services to prepare a solution that achieved on-time running for buses based on complex analytics of Government data. We prepared strategic concept schemes to optimise the performance of the network from a bus perspective and promote movement of people. We also undertook a corridor audit of road safety concerns and identified outcomes that better promoted safety of all users.
Roads and Maritime considered our work of “superior” quality, providing a performance score of 91% on the contractor performance report. The project manager stated that they “would recommend SCT Consulting for future similar works.”
