Snowy Hydro 2.0 EIS
Snowy 2.0 is a proposed $4.5 billion pumped-hydro expansion of the Snowy Mountains Scheme which will supercharge its existing hydro-electric generation and large-scale storage capabilities. As the economy decarbonises and baseload coalfired power stations retire, more renewably generated power supply options, such as wind and solar, are entering the market. Snowy 2.0 is key to future grid stability as the pumped hydro is supported by large-scale storage capability. With such a significant project to Australia’s continued energy security and sustainability and the proposed scale, the environmental impact statement was crucial to the success for Snowy Hydro Limited.
SCT Consulting was engaged to prepare of the traffic and transport assessment for the EIS, including traffic forecasts, construction traffic management plan, traffic monitoring schemes, temporary traffic signal reviews and peak snow season traffic management plans.
Throughout the project, our team worked cooperatively and proactively with the multifaceted project team. This included attending key workshops with regional Transport for NSW to establish the needs of the stakeholders during the construction phase of the project.
