Moss Vale Movement & Place Assessment Study
The Illawarra Highway, a strategic route between the Illawarra, the Southern Highlands and beyond, runs through Moss Vale and serves multiple customers, such as residents, visitors, businesses, regional freight operators and commuters.
Transport for NSW required strategic advice to inform the development of a Town Centre Action Plan for Moss Vale using the Movement & Place Assessment process.
The outcome was to establish how different customers use the town centre and identify opportunities to improve accessibility and public and active transport usage.
SCT Consulting led the preparation of the Movement component of the study, collaborating closely with Ramboll and Reactive, who were leading the Place assessment. Utilising the recently updated measures and classifications for the Movement and Place assessment, including place intensity and movement classification, our team focussed on the detailed understanding of movement networks and the appropriate opportunities and awareness of deliverability risks from functionality and feasibility perspectives.
The project has required strong collaboration with the study team, Transport for NSW and other key stakeholders. This included stakeholder consultation through workshops and meetings with Wingecarribee Shire Council and Transport for NSW modal specialists.
