Central Precinct Renewal
Central Precinct is a key urban renewal project with a vision to revitalise a major transport interchange and the surrounding 24 hectares to create a social and environmentally sustainable precinct for the community. There is a clear vision to deliver a people focussed precinct that is walkable, well connected, safe and puts people first - whilst ensuring the balance between targeted development and the efficient and safe operation of the multi-modal transport network are achieved.
In a Lead Technical Advisory role since 2019 SCT Consulting has worked side-by-side with the Transport for NSW and Arcadis team on the development, refinement, and assessment of transport integration issues for the Precinct, providing key transport inputs for the surrounding multi-modal transport infrastructure including pedestrian and cycling networks, road and public transport network and freight.
Our focus on achieving sustainable transport solutions for the precinct included designing a precinct with limited parking opportunities to discourage private vehicle use and promote the use of public and active transport; optimisation of bus operations in the vicinity of the site; supporting opportunities for place-based outcomes and key active transport connections, as well as designing infrastructure that will adapt to future changes in transport and mobility.
The SCT Consulting team brought not only technical skills and knowledge, but also an understanding of the strategic context of the project.
